Initiation into Student Life at KazNU: A New Generation — New Horizons

On October 10, 2025, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted one of the most anticipated events of the autumn season — the ceremonial initiation of first-year students.

This year, the event took place in an innovative format featuring elements of artificial intelligence, symbolizing the university’s commitment to innovation and the digital future.

Modern Format and Creative Concept

The Initiation-2025 celebration became a true fusion of tradition and technology.

The opening of the event resembled an airport runway: an AI-generated “pilot” and “flight attendant” welcomed the “passengers” — first-year students — who entered the stage carrying suitcases and waving the flags of 56 countries represented in KazNU’s diverse student body.

This symbolic “flight” embodied the beginning of a long and exciting journey into the world of knowledge and discovery.

Honored Guests and Greetings

The ceremony was attended by Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek, KazNU Rector Zhanseit Tuimebayev, Chairman of the Board of Trustees Kairat Mami, Deputy Akim of Almaty Ayzamat Kaldybekov, members of the Senate of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as the Consuls General of Turkey and China.

In his welcoming speech, Rector Zhanseit Tuimebayev stated:

“Becoming a student marks the beginning of the journey to success. KazNU provides all the necessary conditions for young people to not only gain knowledge but also develop into the leaders of the future.”

Program and Symbolism

The festive program included theatrical performances and musical numbers dedicated to the great thinkers of humanity — Al-Farabi, Confucius, Newton, Goethe, and Pushkin.

A special segment was presented by students of the military department, showcasing discipline, strength, and patriotism.

Sports performances, flash mobs, and numbers by winners of the university games added energy and vibrancy to the event.

International Community and Scale

In 2025, 11,530 students were admitted to KazNU, including more than 5,000 international students from 56 countries.

This demonstrates the university’s growing global reputation as a leading center of science and education in Central Asia, open to international collaboration and cultural exchange.
