Workshop within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals: SDG 13 «Combating climate change»

Within the framework of the memorandum of bilateral cooperation with Gymnasium 208, educational, methodological and educational activities are carried out systematically and systematically. This partnership is aimed at expanding the scientific worldview of students, forming an ecological culture and improving the effectiveness of career guidance.

According to this plan, on December 19, the teaching staff of the Department of Physical Chemistry, Catalysis and Petrochemistry of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University - Associate Professor G. Zhaksylykova, Acting Associate Professor F. Kanapieva and Associate Professor Supieva Zh.A. №208 held an educational seminar for high school students of the gymnasium.

During the workshop, students received comprehensive information on 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including special attention to the topic "Global climate change: causes and consequences" (SDG 13 – "Combating climate change"). University professors made informative presentations on the scientific foundations of climate change, the impact of global warming on ecosystems and humanity, as well as ways to reduce climate risks.

During the event, students asked their questions about the topic and received clear and informed answers about modern scientific approaches to understanding the causes and consequences of climate change and its slowdown. This, in turn, increased their environmental literacy and contributed to the formation of skills of responsible attitude to the environment.

In addition, the seminar was combined with a career guidance orientation, students received comprehensive information about specialties in the field of chemistry and chemical technology, the faculty's educational programs, the specifics of studying at the university and opportunities to engage in research in the future.

Such meaningful and educationally significant meetings not only increase students' interest in knowledge, but also positively contribute to the formation of environmental responsibility and an informed choice of a future profession. In the future, these joint events will be continued in accordance with a special calendar plan.
