Project “Enhanced capacity of engineering educators within Kazakhstan universities to teach course content and use novel pedagogical methods to up skill graduates” of Industry Academia Partnership Programme (IAPP151618), funded by  Royal Academy of Engineering (UK),

 

Engaging employers to improvement of internship practices of graduate students is very useful to carry to introduce and develop the practice of techniques such as problem-oriented and project-organized   learning.

 

In this area very useful is effective collaboration between School of Computer Science of Newcastle University and Department of Informatics of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

 

Currently Kazakh National University and Newcastle University working together on a project “Enhanced capacity of engineering educators within Kazakhstan universities to teach course content and use novel pedagogical methods to up skill graduates” of Industry Academia Partnership Programme (IAPP151618) of Royal Academy of Engineering. Project Goal is   enhance the quality of educational processes for Information Technology students at Kazakhstan universities by incorporating interactive pedagogical methods to meet the skills required for a Knowledge Economy. Industry collaborators of this project - Joint Stock Company "Almaty Power Stations" ("AlES", JSC), Company “Crystal Spring”.

 

For the effective project implementation was conduct   meetings and a series of teaching seminars with   Newcastle and Northumbria University (UK). Teachers and IT professionals from industrial Companies – partners held some   seminars with discussions about   tasks of Team project and content of Internship practices for   students of Department of Computer Science of KazNU.

 

Industrial Internship programs was divided among two Kazakhstani companies LLP “Crystal Spring’ and JSC “Almaty Power Stations”.

 

A very important and successful cooperation in the training of Kazakhstani highly qualified scientific personals is the joint training of several Kazakh doctoral students, whose foreign scientific supervisors are professors of Newcastle University Chris Phillips and Paul Ezhichelvan.

 

In conclusion, the project “Enhanced capacity of engineering educators within Kazakhstan universities to teach course content and use novel pedagogical methods to up skill graduates” makes a very important contribution to enhance the quality of educational process.  

 

The dissemination of this experience was carried out at International conferences in 2017, such as “Active teaching methods” in Kazakh National University and Annual Conference of Visiting Professors of Royal Academy of Engineering in Birmingham, Great Britain, which was looking methods of improvement of modern education of more countries (UK, China, India, Denmark, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, etc.); publication the book «Experience Of Team Projects Within The Kazakhstan Higher Educational Framework ( Balakayeva G., P.Ezhichelvan, C.Phillips), which sent to 35 Kazakhstani universities.
