The Turkic echo in the world epic culture
Recently, a scientific and theoretical seminar "Turkic Echo in the world epic culture" was held at the Research Institute of Turkology and Altaic Studies with the support of the Aspandau Scientific and Educational Foundation, dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the translator, epic scholar, Turkologist Kairat Zhanabayev.
Within the framework of the seminar, a presentation of the monograph "Poetic text in rite and ritual: genesis, forms and functions" was held, the publication of which was carried out within the framework of the project "Research of the artistic-determinative system, "formulaic stylistics" and grammar of poetry of Zhyrau XV-XVIII centuries. Frequency dictionary" (under the program of grant financing of scientific and scientific-technical projects for 2021-2023 of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan).
The event was attended by foreign guests, scientists from Russia and Kazakhstan, young scientists and students. The moderator of the seminar was the Doctor of Philology, Professor and director of the Research Institute of Turkology and Altaic Studies, Nursultan Zhamalbekovna Shaimerdenova, who welcomed the participants and shared her thoughts on the significance of the topic of the seminar. These events are organized within the framework of the State Policy in the field of Higher Education and science, in order to support youth and foster patriotic spirit, National Projects of the Republic of Kazakhstan (10 national projects), the Charter of the University and the development program of the NAO "Al-Farabi Kazakh National University" for 2022-2026 and in support of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals on ensuring quality education and partnership for sustainable development.
Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev delivered a congratulatory speech. Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Doctor of Philology, Professor Bayan Dzholdasbekova congratulated the hero of the day and presented Kairat Zhanabayev with the medal of the KazNU "Eren Enbegi Usin" for an invaluable contribution to science. Arnur Nurkatov, President of the Aspandau Scientific and Educational Foundation, congratulated and spoke about the importance of the publication of the book "Poetic Text in Rite and Ritual: Genesis, Forms, Functions" (Kazakh University, 2023). Congratulations were addressed to the hero of the day from a member of the Presidium of MAPRYAL, President of the Kazakh Public Association "KAZPRYAL", a member of the National Assembly of the APK of Kazakhstan, Professor Eleonora Suleimenova.
Among the foreign guests were scientists from the Ural Federal University named after the first President of Russia Boris Yeltsin. Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Professor, Director of the Ural Humanitarian Institute of UrFU Simanyuk Elvira delivered a congratulatory speech. In her speech, she emphasized the role of research on the history of language and culture. She also presented a memorable gift to the Director of the Research Institute of Turkology and Altaic Studies of KazNU and wished successful international cooperation.
The seminar was also attended by well-known Kazakhstani scientists and scientists: A.A. Maulenov, A.B. Nauryzbayeva, M.S. Sarybai, A.Zh.Zhaksylykov, etc. All the speakers, speaking about the contribution of Kairat Zhanabayev to the development of Turkic epic studies, noted the importance of the publication of a scientific monograph for the cultural and scientific-pedagogical life of Kazakhstan. At the end of the event, Kairat Zhanabayev expressed his sincere gratitude to all those present, and also expressed deep gratitude to the organizers of the seminar.
The scientific and theoretical seminar, which was held in a hybrid format and brought together participants from different countries and cities of Kazakhstan, became an important event in the field of epic culture research. The student trainees presented their symbolic gift - a touching video about the hero of the day and his teacher – Edyga Tursunov, whose great work was continued by Kairat Zhanabayev. In addition, it gave young researchers the opportunity to expand their knowledge and understanding of the traditions and trends of Turkology, in particular epic studies. At the end of the event, an autograph session and the presentation of the books of the hero of the day took place for the guests.
