KAZNU STUDENTS DEVELOP STARTUP THAT INCREASES PRODUCTION OF SOLAR ENERGY

21 january, 2023

Students of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University have developed software called VOLT for tracking solar energy. A unique startup project is aimed at obtaining the maximum amount of energy.

VOLT's solar energy tracking software allows the panels to be positioned in such a way as to ensure optimal absorption of solar energy. The system for tracking the operation of solar panels using GPS technology is highly relevant, due to the threat of an energy crisis in the world and the depletion of the planet's resources.

"Our invention is based on the principle that in any geographical position on the earth's surface there is an angle of elevation at which the sun's rays fall on the surface. We have determined that this startup will be in demand, since in December of this year there was a significant increase in energy consumption in Kazakhstan. On December 7, the absolute maximum consumption in the entire history of the country was recorded 16,459. At the same time, the total generation of the country's power plants was only 15,203 Mwh, i.e. the deficit was covered by unplanned inflows of the Russian energy system. Kazakhstanis consume energy (electricity, fuel, etc.) twice as much as the world average and much more than in the countries of the European Union," says the author of the project, a 3rd–year student of the Higher School of Economics and Finance Asan Abdurahim.

This year, young scientist plan to create a computer model that allows to consider the parameters of the operation of a wind generator in order to increase the power factor of turbines. This will allow companies to use the software to create a virtual laboratory.
