KAZNU DEVELOPS THE RESAERCH OF TURKIC STUDIES

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted a scientific conference on the topic "Topical Issues of Deepening Turkological Research Between Kazakhstan and Turkey", where the presentation of the book "Glossary of Names in Turkic Literature" in 20 volumes was held.   

The event was attended by: scientists-Turkologists of Kazakhstan and Turkey, Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Almaty Ali Riza Akinci, Consuls General of Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Hungary, Turkmenistan, Director of the Eurasian Research Institute of the International Kazakh-Turkish University named after H. A. Yasawi Suat Beylur, Rector of the International Kazakh-Turkish University named after H. A. Yasawi Zhanar Temirbekova.

The conference was opened by Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev. "The purpose of the conference is the comprehensive development of Turkology research, assessment of modern Turkology and consideration of ways to jointly solve common problems. In this regard, I want to emphasize that the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has recently opened a Research Institute of Turkology and Altai Studies, which has launched large projects dedicated to the comprehensive study and differentiation of the history and literature of the Turkic people," the rector stated.

In addition, Zhanseit Tuimebayev noted that today Kazakh-Turkish relations were reaching a new level, within the framework of the activities of this institute, comparative historical dictionaries, Turkological encyclopedias were published, scientific research was conducted with the participation of scientists of the two countries.

Chairman of the Plenipotentiary Council of the International Kazakh-Turkish University named after H. A. Yasawi, Dr. Mukhittin Shimshek focused on the relevance of joint Turkological research of Kazakhstan and Turkey. He told about the collection "Glossary of names of Turkic literature", which was presented to the Kazakh reader.

“The book covers the works of poets and writers from the moment of the birth of Turkish literature to the XXI century. Classical literature, aitys, tassauf, Sufi traditions and modern Turkish literature after Tanzimat are fully considered,” Dr. Mukhittin Shimshek noted.

The book begins with the history of the Seljuks in Anatolia, continues with the Ottomans and seeks to combine classical literature with modern one. It also contains ancient Uighur, Karagan, Khorezm-Kipchak, Chagatai and Azerbaijani geographical names.

Scientists expressed confidence that this meeting would give a new impetus and direction to researchers of the Turkic heritage, language, literature, folklore, history, ethnography, culture of the Turkic-speaking people.

During the conference, Dr. Mukhittin Shimshek was awarded the title of "Honorary Professor of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University" and was awarded the Al-Farabi Gold Medal.
