NEW INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES IN FRANCE FOR THE STUDENTS OF KAZNU

Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev met with a representative of the Academie France Médias Monde, Chairman of the France 24, journalist Antoine Cormery, Director of the Sorbonne-Kazakhstan Institute and the Geo-Energetics Center Christine Bouteiller. During the meeting the parties discussed prospects for cooperation and a number of other issues.

Zhanseit Tuimebayev warmly welcomed the honored guests and told about the achievements and future plans of KazNU: “Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is among the top 150 best universities in the QS world ranking. The partnership with foreign universities is constantly expanding. So, currently 20 agreements have been signed together with leading universities and institutes in France.”

“Professors and PhD students from France are involved in lectures and scientific guidance within the framework of the program "Attracting Foreign Specialists to Universities in Kazakhstan". Over the past three years, 14 professors from France have arrived to Kazakhstan to teach our students. The Franco-Kazakh center "Geo-Energetics" successfully functions at KazNU. It conducts research in the field of climate change, implements large–scale scientific projects,” the rector of the university stated.

Also in his speech, the head of the university announced a number of specific proposals for increasing cooperation: "I think that in the near future it is necessary to create a joint educational program "Modern French Journalism" at Master’s degree level at the Faculty of Journalism. It is also necessary to prepare audio and video content in order to popularize Kazakh and French, culture and literature. KazNU is ready to support all initiatives to develop mutually beneficial cooperation in various areas of education and science," Zhanseit Tuimebayev said.

In turn, Antoine Cormery thanked the rector of the university for the warm welcome and expressed his opinion: "I consider cooperation between KazNU and Academie France Médias Monde to be an important step. University students undergo an internship in France and exchange practical experience. This initiative, in turn, will contribute to the training of qualified and strong journalists," said Antoine Cormery.
