KazNU scientists are exploring the problems of the social sphere in the post-pandemic period

Scientists of the Higher School of Economics and Business of Al-Farabi KazNU conduct research within the framework of the project "Strengthening state regulation of the social sphere of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the post-pandemic period"

The pandemic has had a strong negative impact on all spheres of human life, exacerbated crisis phenomena in the economy. In this regard, the need to strengthen state regulation of the development of education, health care, employment, social security of the population in the Republic of Kazakhstan has increased. Scientists of the Higher School of Economics and Business of Al-Farabi KazNU have undertaken to develop proposals that will help to solve these pressing issues.

In addition, the researchers are engaged in assessing economic losses from the consequences of the pandemic, quarantine and self-isolation of the population, analyzing the results of large-scale measures to support population groups during the pandemic. The project is led by Laura Zhalgasovna Ashirbekova, PhD in Economics.

The scientific novelty of the project lies in the analysis and assessment of the consequences of the pandemic, its impact on the livelihoods of Kazakhstanis and their standard of living. It takes into account the needs of people in life benefits, quality medical services, social protection and health care.

As a result, scientists have developed measures to strengthen state regulation of the social sphere. Their goal is to level the negative consequences of the pandemic on the process of reproduction of human capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan, taking into account the best practices of developed countries.

According to L. Ashirbekova, Kazakhstan for the first time conducted a comprehensive study in the field of strengthening state regulation of the social sphere in the post-pandemic period, with an assessment of economic consequences for the country, as well as the subsequent development of an effective mechanism of state regulation.

Scientists have published articles on the project in rated, peer-reviewed publications, including Scopus. Based on the results, one monograph and one textbook for students of State and Local Governance in Kazakh language were published.

Work on the project will continue until the end of 2023. The research results can be used by authorized state and local authorities, public organizations, local communities for science-based planning and targeted solutions to the problems of social development of both regions and the country as a whole.
