KazNU delegation takes part in the week of Science in St. Petersburg

Delegation of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University takes part in the Week of Science dedicated to the 125th anniversary of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University.

SPbPU is one of the leading universities in Russia. The institution of higher education, founded in 1899, today has more than 35 thousand students. More than 6 thousand of them come from abroad. The students are taught by more than 2000 professors.

Rectors of universities, academicians and heads of research institutes have been invited to the scientific week. At the opening of the event, scheduled from February 15 to 21, Rector of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University Andrey Rudskoy spoke, who acquainted the guests of honor with the achievements of the university for 125 years.

"St. Petersburg Polytechnic University is among the top 100 universities in the world. The university successfully develops science and education, thanks to which it achieves high results in the field of innovative technologies. Our main goal is to contribute to the improvement of Russia's economic, scientific and technological potential," said Andrey Rudskoy.

During the visit the delegation headed by the Chairman of the Board-Rector of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebaev familiarized with the scientific infrastructure of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and the Graduate School of Business Engineering of the Institute of Industrial Management, Economics and Trade.

At the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the development of partnership in the field of science and technology. The parties agreed to open a joint research center, as well as to hold seminars to attract master's and doctoral students for scientific projects.

It should be noted that currently KazNU jointly with Russian universities implements 31 two-diploma educational programs. 14 faculties of KazNU cooperate with 7 partner universities of the Russian Federation. Within the framework of academic mobility program more than 50 students study in KazNU and for the last three years about 40 scientists from Russia visited KazNU.
