Zhaksylykov Aslan Zhamelevich  is a Doctor of Philology, Professor, member of the Union of Writers of the Republic of Kazakhstan, member of the International Kazakh Pen Club.

Work experience: after graduating from the Philological Faculty of S.M. Kirov Kazakh State University (now Al-Farabi Kazakh National University), in the period from 1979 to 1990, he worked as a teacher at the Literature Department of the Kazakh State Women's Pedagogical Institute. Since 1990, Associate Professor of the Department of Kazakh Literature, since 2000 - Professor of the Department of Kazakh Literature, since 2010 - Professor of the Department of Russian Philology and World Literature at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

Scientific activity: Zhaksylykov's scientific works are associated with several main directions – the study of functionality, genesis and typology of religious and mythological forms and paradigmatics in the texts of fiction of different eras;
- functionality of mythopoetic forms in the texts of Kazakh and Russian literature of Kazakhstan;
- poetics and aesthetics of Kazakh akyns-zhyrau of the XIV – XIX centuries;
- poetics of the modern Kazakh novel and the novel in the Russian literature of Kazakhstan, the originality of ecological and philosophical discourse in the modern literature of Kazakhstan.
Within the framework of these studies, a typology of motives and forms with religious content in the works of Kazakh and Proto-Kazakh literature from the ancient Turkic period to the twentieth century inclusive has been built; the continuous genesis of such forms in Kazakh literature up to the 20s and 30s of the twentieth century, that is, before the period of repression, has been identified; categories of spirituality in the context of Kazakh literature; the literary activity of a galaxy of poets, akyns-zhyrau, oriented to the Muslim Arab-Persian East, whose work was later banned and eliminated from the history of national literature, is characterized and systematized; the work of poets of the so-called Zar Zaman style trend, whose work was also stunned and eliminated from the history of Kazakh literature during the Bolshevik period, is studied. PhD and PhD dissertations were defended under his supervision.

The textbook is recommended as a methodological guide in the field of education and upbringing of modern youth on the example of didactics and moral principles of humane pedagogy of Abai.
A textbook has been put into production: "Bibliographic index on Translation Studies" (2016).); "Actual problems of literary translation and development of Kazakh literature" (2011); "literary translation and the literary process (selected lectures and studies, textbook)" (2013); "the work of a writer and the creative process (selected lectures, manuals)" (2013).

Awards and achievements: A. Zhaksylykov was awarded the jubilee medal "75 years of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University", the Gold Medal of the European Chamber of Science and Industry, the jubilee medal "80 years of al-Farabi Kazakh National University". He is a laureate of the literary prize of the International Kazakh Pen Club (2018), a laureate of the international literary award "Golden Pen of Russia", the international literary award "Altyn Kopir", a nominee of the Booker Prize (2004), an academician of the International Academy of Informatization.
