A well-known specialist in the field of computational mathematics, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (2001), Professor (2004), Academician of the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2004).

N. Temirbekov was born on August 20, 1960 at the Lugovaya station in Zhambyl region. In 1977, he entered the Faculty of Mechanics and Applied Mathematics of Kazakh State University named S.M. Kirov after graduating from the Republican Physics and Mathematics School in Alma-Ata. At the university, he studied in the specialty “applied mathematics” (1982), carried out scientific work as a research intern at the department of applied analysis (1984-1986), completed graduate school (1986-1989) and doctoral studies (1996-1999).

He began his career as an assistant at the Semipalatinsk Technological Institute of Meat and Dairy Industry. In 1990, he defended his candidate's dissertation in the specialty “application of computer technology, mathematical modeling and mathematical methods in scientific research.”

In 1989-2002, N. Temirbekov – assistant, senior lecturer, associate professor, deputy dean of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of KazNU, since June 2008 – dean, since December 2008 – vice-rector for scientific work.

In 2001, he defended his dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences on the topic “Numerical modeling of hydrodynamic problems in complex areas” in the specialty “computational mathematics”.

In 2002-2006 – Vice-Rector for educational and methodological work, then for scientific work and new technologies, East Kazakhstan State University named S. Amanzholov. In 2006-2008 – Vice-Rector for Science and International Cooperation of the East Kazakhstan State Technical University named D. Serikbaev.

In 2004, he was awarded the academic title of professor in the specialty “informatics, computer technology and management”, and was also elected as an academician of the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the specialty “information and computer technologies”.

N. Temirbekov is a specialist in the field of computational mathematics and computational fluid dynamics.

Author of the monograph “Approximate methods for solving viscous fluid equations in areas with complex geometry”, “Transformation of a technical university into an innovative university” and more than 70 articles in scientific journals in Kazakhstan and Russia.

Under the leadership of N. Temirbekov trained five candidates of sciences. Awarded the badge of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan “For merits in the development of science of the Republic of Kazakhstan” (2003). Scholar of the state scientific scholarship of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan for scientists and specialists who have made an outstanding contribution to the development of science and technology (2004-2005).

In 2006, he was awarded the Astana anniversary medal and a Letter of Gratitude from the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 2023 – the medal “Laureate of the TWMS Congress” of mathematicians of the Turkic world.
