Academician of NAS RK (2003).

Born on December 4, 1938 in the village Kaskelen, Alma-Ata region. In 1956, he graduated from high school in Voronezh with a gold medal and entered the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Kazakh State University named S.M.Kirov, who graduated with honors in 1961. In 1961-1964, as a graduate student at the Department of Equations of Mathematical Physics of Kazakh State University, he was in Kharkov, where he became involved in big science under the guidance of Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR E.I.Kim.

After graduating from graduate school in 1964, Stanislav Kharin was sent to work in the sector of mathematics and mechanics of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, which was transformed in 1965 into the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, where all his further work took place.

In 1968, he defended his candidate's dissertation, which was devoted to solving singular integral equations related to the problems of mathematical modeling of thermal processes in electrical contacts. In 1969-1980, S.Kharin – senior researcher at the Laboratory of Equations of Mathematical Physics, 1980-1994 – Deputy Director for Research at the Institute of Mathematics. In 1990, he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic “Mathematical models of thermophysical processes in electrical contacts” at the Institute of Thermophysics of the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences (Novosibirsk). In 1994, S.Kharin was elected a corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and in 2003 – its full member. In 1994-1996 – Academician-Secretary of the Department of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, member of the Presidium of the Kazakh SSR Academy of Sciences and at the same time head of the laboratory at the Institute of Mathematics.

For the results obtained in the field of mathematical modeling of thermal and electrical phenomena, he was elected as a foreign member of the National Academy of Sciences of Pakistan and appointed curator of the section on mathematics in the central journal “News of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences”.

In 2001, S.Kharin was invited to the position of professor at the University of the West of England (Bristol, England), where he worked until 2003.

Stanislav Kharin worked in Pakistan as a professor at the GIK Institute until the summer of 2005. Currently, he is a professor of mathematics at the International School of Economics in Kazakhstan.

The results of Stanislav Kharin scientific research were presented at international conferences and congresses in the USA, England, Japan, Canada, Germany, France, Switzerland, Poland, Bulgaria, Pakistan, as well as at many all-Union and republican conferences.

He has published over 300 scientific papers in leading foreign and national journals, three monographs, and received 12 copyright certificates for inventions.

Stanislav Kharin pays great attention to the training of scientific personnel. Under his scientific supervision, one doctoral and 10 candidate dissertations were successfully defended.

He was also the President of the Small Academy of Sciences for schoolchildren and the Chairman of the Committee on Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan (1996-2001).
