Batyrshaev Bakyt Danabekovich

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (November 2013 – March 18, 2019). Bakyt Danabekovich Batyrshaev was born on June 26, 1973 in the South Kazakhstan (now Turkestan) region.

In 1995 he graduated from the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al Farabi Kazakh National University. Speaks Arabic and English.

He began his career in 1995 as an assistant at the Main Directorate of the Near and Middle East and Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In 1996, he was appointed attache to the said Directorate.

In 1997-2001 he worked at the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Arab Republic of Egypt as an attaché.

In 2001-2002, he held the position of Second Secretary of the Department of Bilateral Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In 2002, he continued to work as second secretary in the Department of Asia, the Middle East and Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In 2002-2005 he worked at the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Arab Republic of Egypt as third, second and first secretary.

In 2005-2009 he worked as head of the Department of Central Asia, the Middle East and Africa, deputy director, director of the Department of Asia and Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In 2009-2010, he began working at the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a council minister.

In March 2010, he was appointed Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Since November 2013, he was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. By decree of the head of state in March 2014, he was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Kingdom of Bahrain concurrently.

 Saudi Arabia was among the first Arab and Muslim countries to recognize the independence of Kazakhstan on December 30, 1991. Diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia were established on April 30, 1994. The Kazakh embassy was established in Riyadh on December 13, 1995.

On August 29, 2014, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakyt Batyrshaev presented his credentials to the King of Saudi Arabia Abdullah bin Abdulaziz. During the ceremony, the Ambassador confirmed the consistent course of the President of Kazakhstan N.A. Nazarbayev towards the comprehensive strengthening of relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and peoples.

At all stages of his career, B.D. Batyrshaev takes an active part in the implementation of Kazakhstan’s foreign policy in the direction of cooperation with the states of Asia, the Middle East and Africa, in particular, in organizing bilateral visits at various levels, negotiations, multilateral events, etc.
