On May 23, 2024 Patrice Lumumba Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia  held an annual  scientific seminar on the topic: “Sociocultural adaptation and intercultural communication: Russian language in the interdisciplinary field of scientific research.” The event was organized within the framework of “Linguoculturology and Professional Communication” scientific school (headed by Doctor of Philology, Professor V.V. Vorobyov). The topic of the meeting was “Russian language in Internet communication: linguocultural aspect.”

The following issues were discussed at the event: linguoculturology in the 21st century: traditions and innovations; linguocultural foundations of Internet communication; problems of communicative reality in modern society.

More than 100 participants (authoritative scientists, teachers, etc.) from 10 countries: China, Paraguay, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, etc. registered for the seminar.

The key speakers were Saule Bayazovna Begaliyeva - Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Economics, Professor of the Department of Russian Philology and World Literature of al-Farabi Kazakh National University (Kazakhstan, Almaty),  the head of the Center “Russian Language and Culture”,  Akasheva Aigerim Omirtaevna, the  2nd year PhD doctoral student of the Department of Russian Philology and World Literature of the al-Farabi  Kazakh National University  (Kazakhstan, Almaty), assistant professor at the School of Social and Natural Sciences (English) at the Kazakh-British Technical University. Saule Bayazovna’s report devoted to  the interaction of the Russian language with the Kazakh segment of the Internet in the era of digital communication aroused great interest among listeners. The topic of Aigerim Omirtaevna’s research was  “Features of the corpus study of the linguocultural component of color terms in the Russian and Kazakh languages in the teaching of linguistic disciplines”. This report  made the audience think about the linguistics of color terms which resulted in  many questions and recommendations from the audience.

The event took place in a friendly atmosphere in the form of a  pleasant conversation. The seminar experts and its participants noted the relevance of the issues raised in the field of linguoculturology, their significance and importance for further development and subsequent study.
