Anna Pelageikina is a graduate of the dual-degree program in "Technical Physics," jointly implemented by Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and ITMO University. She currently works as an engineer at the Ioffe Institute.
According to Anna, the most significant project during her studies was her diploma thesis. Even as an undergraduate, she had begun engaging in research activities, but at that time, she lacked sufficient experience and a personal project that she could carry out from start to finish—from developing a concept to formulating conclusions. In her master's program, everything changed: Anna felt confident that she could conduct research independently, choosing to study the thermophysical characteristics of a proton exchange membrane fuel cell as her topic. She emphasizes that throughout her studies, both KazNU and ITMO actively supported her ideas and initiatives, providing recommendations and the opportunity to speak at the international conference "Farabi Alemi."
Anna chose the dual-degree program because she wanted to spend at least one semester abroad. It was a long-held dream of hers. Anna is convinced that studying in another country provides an opportunity to look at education from a new perspective and gain unique experience. In her undergraduate studies, she was unable to realize this dream, so when choosing a master's program, she gave preference to those that involved studying abroad.
Anna believes that a dual diploma opens up many opportunities and offers a variety of directions. For example, one can try their hand at teaching, as the program includes the study of the discipline "Higher Education Pedagogy." In addition, it provides a solid theoretical and practical foundation, allowing one to start a career as an engineer.
