On February 12, 2025 at Al – Farabi Kazakh National University named an open event was held with the participation of the teachers and the 1-st year Master’s degree students of the Faculty of Philology, dedicated to the concept of Sustainable Development Goal №4 “Quality Education”. The event was organized by the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies under the guidance of the head of the Department Aimagambetova Malika Muratovna and the first year PhD student of “Foreign Philology” major Pavlova Yuliya Vladimirovna.
At the beginning of the meeting the organizers stressed the importance of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in the world arena as a provider of educational services of the highest quality, as well as on the readiness to exchange experience and international cooperation with other organizations such as InterPress and British Council, in particular, on the preparation for the IELTS exam for students and professionals seeking to study abroad, receive grants and build a successful career in international companies.
The guest speaker of the meeting was Ekaterina Farakhutdinova, an IELTS preparation expert and representative of the British Council, an organization that has been engaged in the development of education and culture around the world for more than 90 years and has been working in Kazakhstan for more than 30 years.
In the course of her presentation, Ekaterina spoke about:
• IELTS exam structure and features;
• Effective preparation strategies;
• Typical mistakes made by candidates and how to avoid them;
• British Council resources for exam preparation.
The audience was particularly interested in the secrets of IELTS success, as well as practical recommendations for improving English language skills. In the end, the participants were able to ask questions and get professional advice from the expert.
The event was held in a warm and productive atmosphere, and its participants expressed their gratitude to the organizers and the speaker for useful information and motivation to further improve their knowledge.
The seminar became an important platform for students interested in international education.
