Discussion of sustainable development strategies in honor of the 80th anniversary of the United Nations

     On January 16, 2025, an important meeting was held at the UN Plaza office in Almaty, bringing together L.F. Delovarova, Director of the Academic Regional Resource Center for UN Information, T.A. Bazarbayeva, Head of the UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Development, O.Zh. Oshanova, Head of the UNESCO Chair on Journalism and Communication, L.K. Mukhtar, Director of the Ban Ki-moon Institute for Sustainable Development, and Vlastimil Samek, representative of the UN Department of Global Communications in Kazakhstan. This meeting coincided with the significant milestone of the 80th anniversary of the UN, to be celebrated in 2025. This anniversary highlights the importance of multilateral cooperation and collective efforts in sustainable development, particularly in education and social change.
     During the meeting, participants discussed strategic areas of cooperation and exchanged ideas for implementing projects aimed at increasing awareness and engagement of students and the public in issues of sustainable development. Special attention was paid to the importance of integrating practical solutions to combat climate change and social inequality. Vlastimil Samek emphasized the significance of the partnership between KazNU and the UN in achieving these goals.
     As a result of the discussions, an agreement was reached to jointly develop and implement several initiatives that will contribute to advancing sustainable development in the region. This milestone inspires continued efforts toward creating a more sustainable and equitable future for all and underscores the importance of such meetings for achieving global goals.
