SDG 15 "Life on land". Phytoremediation technologies".

On March 10, 2025, as part of the implementation of SDG 15 "Conservation of terrestrial ecosystems", a lecture was held, organized by professors of the Department of Biotechnology Atabayeva S.D., Shoinbekova S.A., Asrandina S.Sh., Kenzhebayeva S.S. for 3rd year students of the specialty "Biotechnology" on the topic: " SDG 15 "Conservation of terrestrial ecosystems". Phytoremediation technologies".
SDG 15 "Life on land" Mission ststement: Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss.
With the increasing development of industry, environmental pollution from industrial waste, heavy metals, petroleum products, and pesticides is increasing. Various methods of environmental purification are used to preserve disturbed ecosystems, but phytoremediation is the safest, most environmentally friendly, economically profitable, and promising technology. The students were introduced to various types of phytoremediation technology, their features, advantages and disadvantages. By applying and developing such biological technologies for environmental purification, biotechnologists make a huge contribution to achieving SDG 15 "Conservation of terrestrial ecosystems."
