KazNU scientists are conducting new research in the field of biology

Scientific developments of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology of the University were presented at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University within the framework of the forum "Integration of Science, Business and Production".
Currently, the number of deaths from cancer has increased in Kazakhstan. In order to identify the nodal problem, the faculty's scientists have developed nanoantibodies against PD-L1, which have high selectivity and fewer side effects compared to expensive drugs based on monoclonal antibodies. An antibacterial drug based on chimeric endolysins of bacteriophages is also proposed, which is effective against the pathogens Aeromonas and Pseudomonas.
Unlike antibiotics, it does not affect the beneficial microflora and can be used in veterinary medicine. Nanoantibodies that neutralize the virus and a special probe for its rapid detection have also been developed. These drugs are very stable, do not require refrigeration, and are suitable for use in remote regions.
The fight against tuberculosis, which affects more than 10,000 people every year, is very relevant in the country. Nanoantibodies developed by the faculty's researchers block the mechanisms of resistance of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, increasing the effectiveness of the treatment method and reducing the need for toxic antibiotics.
The specialists also prepared and released a functional Argymak product made from mare's and goat's milk. The domestic product helps to prevent heart disease, improve the functioning of the stomach, intestinal tract and enhance immunity. Today, work is underway on the commercialization of an innovative project.
One of the scientific projects of the faculty's scientists, perennial wheat, was also demonstrated to the visitors. This crop can be sown only once, and it will yield for 5-6 years. Today, scientists intend to bring the project to the market.
All of these developments are aimed at increasing the availability of advanced biotechnological solutions and improving the quality of life of the population.
