Issues of remote sensing of the Earth were discussed

Peng Wang, Professor of the School of Computer Science at Northwestern Polytechnic University (NPU, China), visited the Cluster of Engineering and High-Tech Technologies at KazNU.
During the meeting, the scientific research works of the Center for Space Technologies and Remote Sensing of the Earth at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University were presented. The issues of strengthening scientific partnership through writing joint scientific articles, participation in international projects and transfer of new technologies were discussed.
In his speech, Professor Peng Wang spoke about the scientific achievements of the School of Computer Science, saying that today they widely use machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies to predict river flows and monitor ice cover based on remote sensing data, as well as to detect changes in the Earth's cover.
In this regard, cluster Director Amirkhan Temirbayev, voicing the possibilities of using these technologies in scientific work on flood detection and forecasting in the region of Kazakhstan, called on KazNU to jointly use the potential of the already installed supercomputer.
During the meeting, a specific plan of partnership was drawn up. The first works will begin with writing and publishing joint articles and will continue with scientific work on determining the flood zone in Kazakhstan based on space image processing using artificial intelligence technology.
