At the Faculty of Physics and Technology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, a presentation of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and the “Scouts” youth movement was held, aimed at promoting engineering professions, fostering leadership skills, and encouraging civic engagement among students.

SPE is a non-profit international professional association uniting more than 127,000 members from 145 countries working in the exploration, production, and processing of oil, gas, and related energy resources. The organization provides opportunities for knowledge exchange, participation in international conferences and competitions, professional training, and publication in leading technical journals. SPE maintains regional offices in Houston, Calgary, Dallas, Dubai, and Kuala Lumpur

The second part of the event featured the activities of the “Scouts” youth movement, which aims to develop responsibility, leadership, teamwork, and environmental awareness among young people. The movement encourages student participation in volunteer initiatives, social projects, and intercultural exchange activities aligned with the principles of sustainable development.

During the meeting, representatives of the organizations introduced opportunities for students to participate in SPE international programs and grants, as well as volunteer and environmental initiatives of the Scouts movement.

Such initiatives contribute to the implementation of UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 — “Quality Education”, promoting the development of professional and practical competencies, and SDG 17 — “Partnerships for the Goals”, by fostering collaboration between academia, professional associations, and youth organizations.

The Faculty of Physics and Technology expressed gratitude to the organizers and participants and reaffirmed its commitment to further cooperation with international professional and youth associations in the fields of engineering, energy, and sustainable development.
