Educational program

The purpose of the educational program – quality training of highly qualified specialists in the field of Oriental language and literature.

Upon completion of this programme it is expected that doctoral students will be able to:
ON1) Analyze modern and traditional theoretical concepts in the translation studies and Eas philology;
ON2) Conduct independent scientific research characterized by academic integrity, based on modern theories and methods of analysis;
ON3) Freely operate the cognitive-category apparatus, using the theoretical rules of the cognitive-communication translation and translation studies methodology, and oriental philology;
ON4) Systematize and interpret scientific theories and concepts of the modern directions of comparativistics in order to further apply this knowledge in the selection of theoretical positions;
ON5) Use AI and computer programs in word processing, text corpora;
ON6) Integrate interdisciplinary knowledge into the research process on Eastern philology in order to adapt and analyze modern research approaches;
ON7) Develop teaching materials for conducting classes and extra-curricular activities in literary and linguistic disciplines in higher education institutions using educational technologies and teaching methods based on their critical understanding;
ON8) Organize the research process in the field of Oriental philology, in the creation of dictionaries and linguistic corpora, leading to new results using modern information and innovative technologies with further approbation in the scientific environment;
ON9) To synthesize theoretical knowledge in the field of literary studies, linguistics and textual studies with modern methods and techniques of philological research in analytical work with fiction and media texts;
ON10) Model and develop programs to act as a translator of the national-cultural identity of the Eastern communities being studied;
ON11) Critically assess the results of own theoretical and applied research, scientific product, concepts in relation to modern achievements, paradigms and theories in the field of Oriental philology;
ON12) To be ready for proper and tolerant interaction in society, for social interaction and cooperation to solve the problems of science.

Educational programs of doctoral studies

Persons entering doctoral studies (PhD) submit the following package of documents:
when applying to organizations of university and postgraduate education:
1) an application addressed to the head of the organization of higher and postgraduate education (in any form);
2) a document on education (original, when submitting documents to the selection committee);
3) identity document (required for personal identification);
4) official certificate of passing the state language exam (KAZTEST) issu

Graduates of the Department of Sinology in the educational program 8D02301-Foreign Philology (Oriental Languages) and those who defended PhD doctoral studies are in great demand and can work in the Institutes of Strategic Studies, Research Centers, Higher Educational Institutions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Defense, the National Security Committee , Customs Service, mass media at various levels, museums and archives, translation agencies. Graduates can also work in various companies and firms in China, Turkey, Arab countries, Korea, Japan, India, Pakistan, Iran.
