Information and software complex "Univer.kaznu.kz" (UNIVER) is a system of administration and management of the university's educational activities with a full cycle of coverage of the educational process.

The "UNIVER" system was built according to the principles of "individualization" of the representation of subsystems for each user, focused on the specifics of the tasks solved by this category of users in accordance with their role-playing policy.

The UNIVER system allows you to manage the following processes: management of the selection committee and analysis of the recruitment of the contingent; management of educational activities (formation of curricula, certification, etc.); management and organization of electronic educational document management for the entire technological cycle of the educational process; management and monitoring of the organization of a data bank of electronic educational and methodological materials for each discipline; discipline registration management; management and organization of the additional semester; the formation of various types of schedules (classes, exams, curatorial hours); organization of a system of statistical analysis and reporting on the main tasks of the educational process; organization of the administration system for the management of software maintenance and the use of the system in the educational process, for prompt response to the elimination of incidents and analysis of the history of the user's work with the system.

Since 2008, KazNU has been actively implementing the Moodle distance learning management system, which is an open and most common solution for organizing the distance learning process around the world.

Moodle is an abbreviation for Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment (modular object-oriented dynamic learning environment). Moodle is a distance learning system focused primarily on organizing interaction between a teacher and students. Moodle belongs to the LMS (Learning Management System) class - learning management systems.

Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi is a leader among Kazakhstani universities in the implementation of MOOCs on the open platform OpenEdx.

Since the 2014-2015 academic year, the Center for Distance Education of Al-Farabi KazNU, together with the teaching staff, began work on the creation of MOOCs, and at the moment, at the Internet address http://open.kaznu.kz, there is its own MOOC platform based on the system Open edX.

On October 1, 2015, the first open courses were launched from the leading teachers of Al-Farabi KazNU - Probability Theory and Physical Problems with Associate Professor V. Kashkarov, where about 250 and 500 students from different regions of Kazakhstan signed up, respectively. In these courses, students of the 1st and 2nd year of KazNU named after al-Farabi, senior grades of Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools, specialized physics and mathematics and secondary schools were mainly trained. The analysis of the data showed a great interest in these courses, which gives an incentive to the teaching staff and staff of the university to continue working in this direction. At the end of June 2016, more than two thousand listeners were registered in the system.
