According to the results of a study by the authoritative QS rating agency, al-Farabi Kazakh National University took the 230th place in the QS World University Rankings (QS WUR) – 2023. The rating considered such indicators as: «academic reputation», «reputation among employers», «number of citations per teacher», «ratio of the number of teachers to students», «share of foreign students», «share of foreign teachers».

According to the results of the QS World University Ranking by Subject 2023, which ranked more than 1,422 universities in the world in five subject areas, al-Farabi Kazakh National University improved its performance and strengthened its position. According to the results of the national ranking of popular universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2024, conducted by the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating (IAAR), accredited by the Observatory on Academic Ranking and Excellence (IREG), Al-Farabi KazNU was recognized as the first and best university, gaining the highest number of points among other national universities countries.
In 2024, the number of evaluated educational programs in the Independent Ranking of demand for universities in the Republic of Kazakhstan increased to 1,650. The leader in the number of prizes was expected to be al-Farabi Kazakh National University – the university also led the top three leaders of the "Top 20 universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan", scoring 337374 points.

According to the Independent Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (IQAA), Al-Farabi KazNU once again took first place and was recognized as the best multidisciplinary university in Kazakhstan in 2024, gaining the most points.
IQAA is the co-sponsoring organization of the IREG Observatory for Academic Ranking and Excellence, which includes the world's leading ranking agencies such as the Shanghai Agency and US News. The advantages of the IQAA rating are a time-tested methodology, credibility, objectivity and reliability, recognition by national and international experts.
