SOCIAL AND EDUCATIONAL DEPARTMENT
The Social and educational department is a structural subdivision of NJSC "Al-Farabi Kazakh National University" operates in accordance with the Charter of the University and the Regulations on the Department.
About us
The legal basis for the activities of the Department, its structural divisions and employees is the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Law "On Education", the Charter of the University, and other regulatory legal acts.
The Department is guided by the Development Strategy of the NJSC "Al-Farabi Kazakh National University", the Plan of the main activities for the implementation of the Strategy, documented procedures for the main processes, orders and instructions of the University, internal regulations, the Corporate Culture Code.
The main tasks of the Department are:
- Assistance in the rational use of free time, the harmonious development of the individual, the organization of cultural events;
- Expansion of the cultural horizons of students, the formation of their high moral qualities and aesthetic taste;
- Creation of conditions for realization by students of the University of their individual abilities and intellectual potential;
- Organization and coordination of the activities of the Department of Social Work of the University;
- Organization and coordination of the activities of the structural unit "Youth Organizations";
- Organization and coordination of the activities of the ART Center;
- Organization and coordination of the activities of the "Museum of KazNU";
- Cooperation with the trade union of students and undergraduates of the “Sunkar”.
The organizational structure of the Department includes: the Department of Social Work, the Sector of Social and Psychological Services, the Sector for Work with Alumni, the structural unit "Youth Organizations", the ART Center, the "Museum of KazNU", the scientific and practical Center "Inclusive Environment".
Functions of the department, its structural subdivisions.
Work with youth, social and educational work:
- providing methodological and organizational support for work with youth, social and educational work of the university;
- development of scientific and methodological recommendations, methodological manuals in the main areas of work of curators-advisers;
- development of plans for mass cultural and festive events of the university, ensuring their implementation;
- organization of work with youth, social and educational work in close contact with the faculties and structural divisions of the University;
- organizing and holding social and educational events with young people;
- preparation of responses to inquiries to higher and other organizations on issues of work with youth, educational and social work;
- attraction of University employees to participate in cultural events and organization of students' leisure;
-coordination of the work of the Centers for educational work and social activities; cathedral, faculty and university-wide clubs and circles;
-organization and holding of seminars for curators-advisers to improve the activities of the institution of curators-advisers;
- study of the interests and requests of students in the field of leisure.
Working with youth organizations includes:
- development and support of student initiative and creativity;
- development of programs, projects aimed at the development of student self-government;
- ensuring interaction with state executive bodies for the implementation of youth policy, republican and city youth organizations;
- organization of the School of student leaders (lectures, discussions, trainings, game forms, practical exercises, melodic counseling, etc.);
- creation and updating of a database on student organizations and University students who are members of city and republican youth movements.
The functions of the social work management are:
- providing methodological and organizational support for the social and educational work of the university;
- development of scientific and methodological recommendations, methodological manuals in the main areas of social and educational work of the teaching staff, curators-advisers;
- development of plans for social, cultural and festive events of the university, ensuring their implementation;
- organization of work in close contact with the faculties and structural divisions of the university;
- study of the interests and requests of students in the field of leisure;
- organizing and holding meetings, honoring war and labor veterans, meetings with famous scientists, cultural figures, round tables, thematic and creative evenings at faculties and dormitories, etc.;
- preparation of responses to inquiries to higher and other organizations on issues of social, educational work, and work with youth;
- attraction of university teaching staff to participate in activities for social and educational work and organization of students' leisure;
- assistance in organizing the event of the School of University Advisors (seminars, methodological advice, lectures, etc.);
- control of medical examination and fluorographic examination of university students;
- updating and replenishment of the data bank of employees and students belonging to the socially unprotected segments of the population of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
- сarrying out preventive measures to prevent offenses.
The functions of the Sector for Work with Alumni are:
- creation, replenishment and use of a database of graduates, their professional interests and opportunities in cooperation with the University;
- wide dissemination of information about the Kazakh National University: traditions, history and modern development;
- assistance in the preservation and development of the best traditions of the University, including work with graduates;
- using the experience and capabilities of graduates for the implementation of educational, scientific, social, economic, industrial and other projects of the University;
- support for the initiatives of students, undergraduates, graduate students, PhD doctors, and employees aimed at strengthening the prestige of the University and its graduates;
- establishment, expansion and development of personal and business ties, creative cooperation, social and personal interaction and mutual assistance between graduates;
- preparation of information bulletins about graduates, their achievements and successes;
- creating conditions for the most complete realization of the creative potential of graduates, assisting graduates in their work to improve their professional skills within the walls of the University;
- participation in the organization and holding of meetings of graduates of the University.
