About us
Department of Economics and Finance is a structural subdivision of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and consists of three divisions: financial, economic and logistics.
The main tasks of the Department are qualitative and timely economic planning, development, and approval of the Development Plan for five years, the main consolidated and non-consolidated indicators of financial and economic activity, measurable key indicators for the implementation of the University Development Programme, ensuring control over the use of material, labour and financial resources, movement of property and organization of public procurement.
The main functions of the Department are:
- Formation of complete and reliable information on economic processes and results of the University's activities, necessary for operational management;
- ensuring accounting on the basis of the principles of accrual and continuity;
- monitoring the implementation of the University's Development Plan, fulfilment of financial performance indicators, implementation of investment plans and projected key indicators;
- developing public procurement plans and entering the public procurement plan into the public procurement portal of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
- accrual, withholding and transfer of taxes to the relevant funds, preparation and submission of accounting reports and tax accounting to the governing bodies in due time;
- auditing of financial and economic activities;
- drawing up staff schedules for all categories of personnel, improving the organisational structure, staffing, amounts and conditions of remuneration of the University's employees;
- monthly accrual of salaries, holiday pay, sick leave benefits and other payments;
- monthly accrual of scholarships for students, masters and PhD students according to their academic performance, monetary compensation for meals for orphans;
- processing of orders for enrolment, expulsion, reinstatement, transfer from one course to another, etc.
- Calculation of tuition fees at the fee-paying department and development of norms of consumption of household and stationery goods for all structural divisions;
- attraction of additional sources of financial and material resources at the expense of educational, scientific activity of paid services and self-supporting centres.
