Department of Chinese Studies

The Department of Chinese Studies employs experienced professors, candidates of Sciences, associate professors, senior teachers. Teachers of the department in order to improve their qualifications annually undergo a language, scientific internship corresponding to their specialties. Also, the department annually receives high-level specialists from China under various contracts. Today, the Department of Chinese Studies cooperates with a number of universities in China, including Peking University, Peking University of Language and Culture, Minzu University of China, Huadong Pedagogical University, Fudan University, Lanzhou University, Xi'an Petroleum University, Xinjiang Pedagogical University, Nanchang University. On the basis of the Confucius Institute, the department has close ties with the State Chancellery of China ("Hanban"). "Hanban" provides the department with textbooks, teaching aids, scientific and educational materials on the Chinese language, and also annually sends specialists in the Chinese language to the department. In addition, teachers, students, undergraduates and doctoral students of the department undergo scientific and language training at universities in China.

History of the department


Research activities of the department are focused on the language and literature, history, culture, economy, politics of the Far Eastern countries, including the Chinese states, and relations with the Republic of Kazakhstan. Today, the Department of Chinese Studies is not only a permanent educational association, but also a scientific center conducting research and scientific projects in various fields of Chinese Studies.

The Department of Chinese Studies conducts research on Chinese history, culture, religion and philosophy, Chinese philology and literature, linguistic and cultural studies, and other areas.

Students of the department have the opportunity to participate in scientific and creative conferences of various levels and improve their scientific research. In addition, students participate in various language Olympiads and conferences held at the level of the Republic, Central Asia and the CIS countries. 

Today, the Department of Chinese Studies communicates with a number of higher educational institutions of the PRC, including Peking University, Peking University of Languages, Beijing Central National University, Huadun Pedagogical University, Fudan University, Lanzhou University, Xi'an Petroleum University, Xinjiang Pedagogical University, Nanchang University.

On the basis of the Confucius Institute, the department has established close relations with the State Chancellery of China ("Hanban"). "Hanban" supplies the department with Chinese language textbooks, teaching aids, scientific and educational materials, and annually sends Chinese language specialists to the department. In addition, teachers, students, masters and doctoral students of the department are undergoing scientific and linguistic internships in higher educational institutions of China.


International relations of the department

International relations of the department are extensive. In recent years, international relations of the department have been developing and strengthening in various directions. A bilateral agreement has been signed with KazNU and Shanghai, Lanzhou, and Xinjiang universities of the People's Republic of China. The strengthening of the relations of the Department of Chinese Studies with various educational institutions, scientific centers, state and business structures of China contributes to the improvement of the educational and scientific activities of the Department.

Relations with large Chinese-Kazakh companies in our country are developing year by year. Representatives of China National Oil Company, Bank of China, "Asia Gas Pipeline" company give lectures on various topics to students and undergraduates of the department, take part in creating training programs, and participate in industrial experiments.

Currently, the department has a total of more than 30 teaching professors. More than 230 bachelor's students, 11 master's students and 8 PhD doctoral students study in the department "oriental studies", "foreign philology", "translation". Since 2016, the department has started accepting students with the specialty "regional studies". The material and technical base of the educational process is made up of computer classes, a language room, audio and video equipment (projectors, tape recorders).

The teaching staff of the department is 33 people, including:

- 2 doctors of science, professor;

-3 candidates of science;

- 3 docents;

- 3 associate professors M.A.;

- 8 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD);

- 16- senior teacher;
