Diplomatic translation department

The purpose of the program is to train highly qualified translators in the field of international and legal relations with an understanding of new areas of modern translation and professional competence that meets the requirements of the employer and the needs of society, capable of translating public speeches at major international conferences using two or more languages. In accordance with international practice, in 2019 department of diplomatic translation developed educational programs and a new specialty 7M02304 "Translation in the field of international and legal relations" has been opened in the master's program. In 2021, the Department of Diplomatic Translation developed a new bachelor's degree program for the specialty "6B02311 - Translation in the field of international and legal relations".

History of the department

In 2017, on behalf of the rector of the university, the department was obliged to train "simultaneous interpreters" and therefore it was decided to open the specialty "Translation" in the master’s degree. Teachers of the department took part in the development of new programs. Department established relationship with universities such as the Faculty of Interpretation and Translation of the University of Geneva (Switzerland), the Department of Modern Languages and Translation of the University of Birmingham (UK), the Faculty of Linguistics and Translation Studies of the University of Poitiers (France), St. Petersburg Higher School of Translation.

- In 2019, the department opened new specialty 7M02304 "Translation in the field of international and legal relations".

- In 2020, the department opened the international center for "Intercultural Communication and Translation Studies"

- In 2021, the Department of diplomatic translation developed a new curriculum for bachelor's degree in the specialty "6B02311 - Translation in the field of international and legal relations".

Currently, the department teaches 7 languages (English, French, German, Arabic, Chinese, Spanish, Italian) as the first and second foreign languages. Students have the opportunity to choose a second language, as well as the opportunity to study all subjects in English in a special group for students who are fluent in English  and have an international certificate IELTS 6.0, as well as choose one of seven languages as the first.

Grant and foreign projects
