Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is an integral part of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 4) concerning the quality of the educational process. The implementation of sustainable development principles positively affects the education system, contributing to its improvement, modernization, and progressive development. Specifically, school, pre-university, and university education are evolving within the context of sustainable development, which ensures higher quality professional training and advanced qualification. Particular attention is paid to forming ecological literacy and social responsibility among students. This is crucial for fostering future specialists capable of addressing modern global challenges.

On November 20, 2025, the Department of Language and General Education Training for Foreigners at the Faculty of Pre-University Education of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University held a seminar for the teaching staff on the topic: "Education for Sustainable Development." The seminar was coached by B.M. Aitbayeva, Candidate of Philological Sciences and Head of the Department. During the seminar, the goals, characteristics, and tasks of sustainable development were discussed, along with a number of debatable issues related to the topic and ways to address them in working with international students. The seminar took place in a constructive atmosphere. The lecturers actively shared their experience and outlined plans to integrate this important agenda into the academic process.
