Seminar-training aimed at increasing activity in scientific publications

15 october, 2025

At our university, a special seminar-training was organized by the Al-Farabi Library for scholars and young researchers with the aim of enhancing instructors’ activity in scientific publications. The seminar titled “Practical work with Mendeley, Scopus Database, and the SciVal platform” was conducted by Rabiga Khojamkul, a consultant from Informascope in Central Asia. The seminar was held over two days, from October 15 to 17, during the 2025–2026 academic year. Within the framework of the sustainable development goal “Using corpus technologies in studying the academic discourse of foreign students” (SDG-4), this seminar significantly contributes to the development of academic writing and helps participants understand the intricacies of advanced technologies used in international scholarly articles.

SciVal is an analytical platform designed for analyzing, evaluating, and comparing scientific research. Mendeley is a reference management program and a network for researchers. Both platforms are interconnected scientific tools of the Elsevier company. The training brought together scholars, instructors, and young researchers from all faculties of the university. This event helps instructors develop writing skills in accordance with international academic standards. As a result of the seminar, participants gained new skills in using tools for effective management and analysis of their research. Such seminar-trainings are of great importance for improving the quality of the department’s scientific work in the future.
