A round table titled “The System of Traditional Turkic Weapons: History of Development, Structure, and Ethno-Cultural Function”

On November 26 of this year at 10:00 a.m., an international round table titled “The System of Traditional Turkic Weapons: History of Development, Structure, and Ethno-Cultural Function” was held at the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan as part of the implementation of one of the Sustainable Development Goals — “Quality Education”.

 

The organizers of the round table were second-year doctoral student of the specialty 8D02204 “Islamic Studies” of the Department of Religious Studies and Cultural Studies, Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science, Z.M. Beltenov, and practice supervisor, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor M.R. Baltymova.

 

The main purpose of the event was to demonstrate and promote the system of traditional weapons, military experience, nomadic lifestyle, spiritual worldview, and ethnic identity of the medieval Turkic peoples. During the event, participants discussed the significant contribution of Turkic weaponry to global military culture and the role of ethnoculture in the revival and preservation of the historical and cultural memory of the people.

 

Doctoral student Zhasulan Mazulaevich Beltenov presented a special slide titled “The Significance of Islamic Texts in Weapons and Armor (based on the materials of the collection of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan).”

 

The round table, held in both online and offline formats, featured presentations by:

– Kaliolla Akhmetzhan, Kazakh ethnographer-arms specialist, painter, Candidate of Historical Sciences;

– Gulym Kagazbekovna Kadyrkulova, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor;

– Alim Orynbasar Talimzhanuly, Head of the memorial museum “Batyr Babalar” of Almaty region;

– Jamshid Peremkulov, Senior Researcher of the State Museum of History of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Head of the Department of the Tashkent branch of the museum, Candidate of Historical Sciences.

 

Students and master’s degree students of the Kazakh National Women’s Teacher Training University and Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University took part in the event.
