The lesson covers the historical background leading to Kazakhstan’s independence, including the December events (Zheltoksan) and the proclamation of sovereignty in 1991. Students will examine the significance of the Constitution, state symbols, and national values, along with the formation of national identity and patriotism.

Attention is given to Kazakhstan’s achievements in global relations, domestic reforms, economic growth, peacekeeping initiatives, and the development of civil society. Students engage in discussions, group tasks, and interactive activities. They may present mini-projects or posters on the topic: “My Country – My Pride” or “I am a Citizen of Independent Kazakhstan.”

At the end of the lesson, students complete a reflection, summarizing what independence means for the modern generation and why it should be protected and valued.
