Advisory Sessions on Summer Internships and Academic Mobility Held for Students of Materials Science and Technology of New Materials. SDG 4 and SDG 17
At the Faculty of Physics and Technology, advisory sessions were conducted for second-year students of group 232-R enrolled in Materials Science and Technology of New Materials programs, focusing on participation in summer internships and academic mobility schemes. The sessions were organized by the group curator Svetlana L. Peshaya and aimed at fostering a conscious educational and professional pathway for students.
Students were provided with an overview of available summer internships at research centers, universities, and industrial partners, including research programs, laboratory practices, applied engineering projects, and internships at foreign universities. Particular attention was given to selection requirements and criteria, such as academic performance, prior research experience, English language proficiency, preparation of a motivation letter, and a professional CV. Practical recommendations were offered on portfolio development, tracking application deadlines, and effective interaction with academic supervisors.
The curator emphasized that the second year is the optimal stage to begin targeted preparation for international educational programs. Key requirements for academic mobility participants were discussed in detail, including a high GPA, involvement in research projects, publication activity, language training, as well as academic discipline and personal responsibility. During the discussion, students reviewed successful cases of senior students’ participation in mobility programs and the application submission process.
The conducted activities contribute to the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, in particular:
-
SDG 4 – Quality Education, by enhancing students’ academic motivation and developing their research and professional competencies;
-
SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, by encouraging participation in international educational and research programs and strengthening cooperation with foreign partners.
As a result of the advisory sessions, students received clear guidance on improving academic performance, preparing application documents, and planning participation in summer internships and academic mobility programs.
