On December 11, 2025, a Plenary Forum was held in Almaty at the “Gylym Ordasy” building as part of the II International Congress of Young Scientists, dedicated to the UNESCO theme “Trust, Transformation, and the Future: The Science We Need for 2050.” The event brought together representatives of the scientific community, government bodies, leading universities, and research centers from Kazakhstan and foreign countries.

Among the participants of the forum was A.A. Maltabarov, a representative of the Faculty of International Relations and the Chair of the Faculty Council of Young Scientists. His participation highlighted the active involvement of the Faculty of International Relations in the university-wide and national scientific agenda, as well as in the development of interdisciplinary dialogue between the social sciences, humanities, and natural sciences.

The Plenary Forum opened with welcome addresses by representatives of government bodies and the scientific community. Opening remarks were delivered by Aida G. Balaeva, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Akhylbek K. Kurishbayev, President of the Board of the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Zhuldyz D. Suleimenova, Minister of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan; as well as representatives of the Parliament and the Akimat of the city of Almaty.

The main part of the program featured presentations by leading Kazakhstani and international scholars, focusing on key issues of scientific development, global change, environmental monitoring, scientific breakthroughs, commercialization of scientific ideas, and human capital development. The speakers included Nobel Prize and Fields Medal laureates, professors from universities in Italy, the United States, Japan, China, the United Kingdom, and Turkey, as well as representatives of Nazarbayev University and the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Special attention during the forum was given to the role of young scientists in shaping science policy and the strategic vision for the development of science up to 2050. These issues were addressed not only in the presentations but also during the foresight session titled “Foresight of Kazakhstan: The Science We Need for 2050,” where promising research areas, institutional challenges, and opportunities for integrating science into the country’s socio-economic development were discussed.

The participation of A.A. Maltabarov in the Congress made it possible to represent the position and interests of the Faculty of International Relations within the framework of nationwide scientific discussions, as well as to establish professional contacts with representatives of scientific and educational organizations. As the Chair of the Faculty Council of Young Scientists, he emphasized the importance of such events for strengthening horizontal ties among young researchers, expanding academic networks, and involving the humanities in discussions on global transformations.

The II International Congress of Young Scientists confirmed its status as an important expert and communication platform that contributes to the consolidation of the scientific community and the formation of a strategic vision for the future of science in Kazakhstan.
