An Information and Awareness-Raising Meeting on Master’s Admission and the Sustainable Development Goals Was Held at the Faculty of International Relations

20 november, 2025

An information and awareness-raising meeting entitled “Master’s Degree — A Step into the World of Opportunities” was held in Room 226 of the Faculty of International Relations. The event was organized in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4 — Quality Education, SDG 8 — Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 17 — Partnerships for the Goals).

The meeting was conducted within the framework of the Plan approved by the decision of the Academic Council on 29 September 2025 and aimed at raising students’ awareness of sustainable development issues, human capital development, and the training of specialists capable of providing analytical support for the implementation of the SDGs at the national and international levels.

The main objective of the meeting was to explain the role of master’s education as a key stage in developing analytical, research, and applied competencies required for the design, assessment, and monitoring of sustainable development policies, as well as for building a qualified talent pool for public authorities, international organizations, and analytical centers. The event was attended by students of the Faculty of International Relations interested in academic and expert career paths.

The meeting was organized by Arsen Maltabarov, G.S. Baikushikova, and A.V. Khamzayeva. During the event, participants were provided with information on existing master’s programs, admission requirements, and opportunities to participate in research and analytical projects, grants, and initiatives related to the assessment and monitoring of SDG implementation.

Special attention was given to the preparation of analytical and quantitative materials within the framework of master’s and doctoral research, including:

  • analysis of sustainable development indicators;

  • use of international indices and statistical data;

  • preparation of analytical reports and policy briefs on SDG-related topics.

The discussion also addressed opportunities for continuing studies at the doctoral level, prospects for an academic career, and ways to combine academic training with practical and volunteer activities in the field of sustainable development.

The meeting was held in an open-dialogue format. Students had the opportunity to ask questions regarding the specifics of academic programs, research supervision, requirements for analytical studies, and career opportunities in institutions involved in SDG implementation. This format contributed to active student engagement and fostered sustained interest in research and analytical work.

Such events constitute an integral part of the Faculty of International Relations’ systematic efforts to promote awareness, support volunteer and analytical initiatives related to the Sustainable Development Goals, and develop students’ research potential.

The organizers noted that similar meetings will continue in the future with the aim of expanding student participation in awareness-raising and analytical projects focused on the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
