Women in STEM/IT and SDG 5: Engaging Girls in Science and Technology
This lesson-project is specifically designed to engage and attract girls from grades 8–11 to STEM and IT fields while supporting SDG 5 — Gender Equality. Throughout the entire academic year, activities are held in Room 430, creating a safe and inclusive learning environment for girls.
Participants build a robotic dog from the ground up, starting with basic concepts in mechanics, electronics, and computational thinking, and gradually advancing to programming, sensor integration, and testing.
Women mentors—students, faculty members, and graduates in STEM/IT—serve as role models, helping girls gain confidence and motivation. The program concludes with participation in a city-level scientific project, contributing to SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 4 (Quality Education).
