Online Meeting between KazNU and Chandigarh University (India): Prospects for Cooperation. SDG 17

An online meeting was held between representatives of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Chandigarh University (India). The meeting was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Technology, the Vice-Dean for Research and International Affairs, as well as representatives of the Department of International Cooperation, the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, and the Faculty of Information Technologies and Artificial Intelligence.

Chandigarh University is one of the leading universities in India, ranked in the QS World University Rankings (approximately 525th globally) and the QS Asia University Rankings (approximately 105th in Asia), which confirms the high quality of its educational programs and research infrastructure.

During the meeting, key mechanisms for strengthening cooperation were outlined, including:
academic mobility of students and faculty members;
short-term student internships (two-week programs);
double degree programs;
• educational pathways under the 1+1 (Master’s) and 2+2 (Bachelor’s) schemes.

Special attention was paid to the contribution of potential cooperation to the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular:
SDG 4 “Quality Education” – development of international academic mobility, joint educational programs, and double degree programs;
SDG 9 “Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure” – support for scientific research, engineering and technological developments;
SDG 17 “Partnerships for the Goals” – strengthening international university partnerships and expanding research and educational networks.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue working consultations and to identify priority areas for further cooperation.
