Day of Friendship, Kindness and Mercy
Teachers of the Department of Language and General Education training of foreigners, in addition to teaching foreign students Russian and Kazakh languages, see as their goal the systematic acquaintance of students with the specific realities of modern Kazakhstan. In addition to broadening the horizons of students, teachers create a positive image of the country of study, the city of residence and, of course, the al-Farabi Kazakh National University. This, of course, meets the 4th principle of the SDGs – providing quality education. It should be emphasized that foreign students show great interest in the history, culture, and traditions of our country.
Spring in our country begins with a remarkable date in all respects: March 1 is the Day of Gratitude. The curators traditionally hold open educational events, where they are proud of their country and tell about the history of the origin and the deep significance of the holiday. By telling young people about the facts from the history of the Kazakh people, the land of Kazakhstan, which not only welcomed representatives of many nations in difficult times, but also became a second homeland for them, teachers emphasize the commitment of the state's policy to the ideas of internationalism and partnership for sustainable development. It is this principle that the 17th thesis of the SDGs refers to.
In our time, when the world is torn apart by various kinds of conflicts, when contradictions of a social, political, and economic nature are escalating, it is very important to remember the fundamental HUMAN feelings: kindness, gratitude, and love. It is this symbolism that is embedded in the date celebrated on March 1st. This is a celebration of gratitude of all ethnic groups to each other and Kazakhs for their hospitality, as well as a tribute to the work of every citizen in building independent Kazakhstan; a day when Kazakhs thank each other and representatives of different ethnic groups for their support during difficult historical periods. It is no coincidence that Gratitude Day is often called the "Day of Friendship, Kindness and Mercy," which promotes peace and harmony.
