. It should be reminded that on August 29, 1991, the world's largest Semipalatinsk nuclear test site was closed by decree of the first President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev. On the same day, at the initiative of the President, the 64th session of the UN General Assembly approved the International Day against Nuclear Tests. The UN General Assembly called on the United Nations, states of the world, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations to make efforts to stop nuclear tests worldwide. The aim of the round table is to develop dialogue on international security through the active participation of the young generation of the country. The round table began with a speech by UN representative Vlastimil Samek. Then, a speech was made by M.M. Burkitbaev, the first vice-rector of KazNU named after Al-Farabi. During the round table, short video clips and presentations on specific goals and plans for the future, as well as on international events on global issues were demonstrated.
Among the speakers were the first vice-rector of KazNU Al-Farabi M.M. Burkitbaev, representative of the UN Office for International Relations in Kazakhstan V.Samek, head of the representative office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Almaty Y.A. Iskakov, Ex-Minister of Foreign Affairs, UN First and Permanent Representative, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Professor A.K. Arystanbekova, director of the Center for Security and Cooperation, KazNU Al-Farabi, Professor K. Bayzakova.
Professor A.K. Arystanbekova presented the materials that she prepared for the audience. In her report, she spoke of the signing on September 30, 1996 of Kazakhstan a decree on the cessation of nuclear testing, the historic closure of the nuclear testing site and a new era in the work of our country. At the same time, videos were presented on the topic of the round table. At the end of the conference, a survey was conducted among the guests, and students and participants in the meeting warmly thanked the organizers of the conference. In the future, such events will be held more often, and the United Nations, together with our university, has drawn up a plan for a series of conferences for the future.
