The Goal is to Train Competitive Professionals
In social network accounts registered with the abbreviation of KazNU, but not having any relation to Al-Farabi KazNU, there was a request to cancel the upcoming examination session in a remote format. In this regard, the University appealed to law enforcement authorities with a statement on the adoption of measures against persons illegally using the name of KazNU.
We note that during an emergency it is necessary to use the official information provided by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, including on conducting exams in a remote mode. All issues related to the educational process should be addressed constructively and within the framework of the academic policy of Universities.
Our task is to give a high-quality education and prepare competitive specialists with high competencies. The modern IT infrastructure created at KazNU and its own developed «Univer» system made it possible to quickly and easily switch to distance learning without changing the class schedule. The educational process is implemented using various platforms, such as «Microsoft teams», «Zoom», «Google meet» etc. The unique digital educational resource moocs.kz developed by KazNU is especially popular.
In accordance with the requirements of the state compulsory education standard for transferring to the next course, as well as obtaining a diploma, it is necessary to pass the final certification, that is, pass exams and defend a thesis (dissertation). To do this on time under the conditions of quarantine, the current exam session is held in a remote format. Students can take exams in writing, orally, in the form of a test or projects. The duration of the session and the time for the examinations has been considerably increased, allowing for better preparation. Students are also encouraged for successful studies with extra points. In addition, there is the possibility of scoring for individual non-core disciplines based on the arithmetic average of the Midterm examination scores. The package of measures being implemented in KazNU will enable students to successfully transfer to the next course, to obtain a diploma and get a job, and to continue their studies at the Master’s or Doctoral level, without having to delay.
At the same time, recognizing that some students have technical difficulties in accessing remote technologies, examinations for them will be postponed until their application. Once the quarantine regime is lifted, they will be able to arrive at the University and pass their exams in the classroom.
Students of KazNU can receive more detailed information about the examination session on April 24 of the current year at 15:00 on the official account of the University on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/KAZNU_FARABI/) during the online explanation of the Vice-Rector for academic work.
We appeal to all students of Kazakhstan. In the difficult period of quarantine, when the whole country has moved to remote work, it is necessary to demonstrate responsibility, conscientiousness and gain new positive experience in the use of modern technologies. Their active use will allow in the future reaching a higher quality level in education.
