2-year Student in the specialty "Ecology" Mukanova Bella won at the Olympiad on Sustainable Development Goals at the national level

Mukanova Bella Almasovna, 2nd year student of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in the specialty in Ecology, took 1st place at the National Student Olympiad 2021 "Sustainable Development Goals in Central Asia" in the section "Integrated Water Resources Management (SDG 6)", which was organized by the Central Asian Youth Association "CAY4W" together with the Kazakh-German University.

The Olympiad was held in an online format and consisted of two stages: the first stage - testing, which consisted of 24 questions; the second is oral testing (interviews) with jury members.

In between the stages, the Water Day conference was held, where speakers from Al-Farabi KazNU, KNU, GEF IFAS Agency, Reading University, Nazarbayev University, ESERA, Young Leadership Program, CAY4Water spoke about their projects related to the protection of water resources and about the opportunities for youth from Central Asian countries to participate in them.

An excursion to Lake Issyk and the Almaty Nature Reserve, which took place on April 24, 2021, became a bonus for all participants who passed to the second stage. During the trip, the participants were accompanied by the national coordinator of the Central Asian Youth Association "CAY4W", Zhaniya Khaibullina, and undergraduates from KNU. Local huntsmen told interesting stories related to their unusual work, and told about the peculiarities of the nature of the Almaty reserve, the Ile-Alatau National Park and Lake Issyk, in particular.
