Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev held a meeting with well-known Turkologists who specially came to the 11th International Symposium "Toponymy of the Altai Peoples".
The delegation includes: Chairman of the Altai Symposium Committee Professor Ilkhan Shahin, Advisor to the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey Ali Ihsan Caglar, Advisor to the Minister of Ecology, Urbanization and Climate Change Tugrul Chamash and representative of the Aegean University Fikret Turkmen.
During the conversation, the issues of the development of modern Turkology in the country and the world were discussed.
During the meeting, the rector of the educational institution Zhanseit Tuimebayev told the honored guests about the activities and achievements of KazNU. In his speech, the head of the university noted that KazNU scientists are conducting large-scale work on topical issues of Turkology.
Today, the Department of Turkology and Language Theory is successfully operating at the university. Zhanseit Tuimebayev also noted that the Scientific Research Institute of Turkology and Altaic Studies operates on the basis of the educational institution.
In turn, the scientists expressed gratitude to the rector of the university for the warm welcome and stressed the potential of KazNU, expressing interest in mutually beneficial cooperation.
It should be noted that the 11th International Symposium "Toponymy of the Altai Peoples" is being held at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The purpose of the symposium is to conduct a comprehensive study of written and oral sources from ancient times to the present day, to analyze the causes of phonetic and morphological changes in the names of tribes and localities, to expand the trajectory of international cooperation of scientists.
The event is attended by scientists from Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Russia, Japan, Hungary, Poland, Taiwan and other countries.
