In order to ensure SDG 6 on 19,10,2023, the senior lecturer of the Department of Customs, Finance and environmental law Teleuev G. organized a round table with students of the educational program "jurisprudence" on the topic "legal issues of providing drinking water to the population". Despite the fact that the water resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan are at a sufficient level, there is also a problem of water supply in the Republic. Kazakhstan ranks 8th among Asian countries in terms of water scarcity after Bangladesh, India, China and other countries. According to the World Resources Institute, the Central Asian region is located in the red zone. Kazakhstan is also included in the red zone, where the problem of water scarcity among Asian countries is the most important issue. It is necessary to radically revise the issues of water and its use. According to our research, by 2050 all mountain peaks, glaciers, the height of which will reach 5 thousand meters, will practically melt. Accordingly, we predict that there will be a big problem in the region in terms of Water Resources and sufficiency of drinking water. Even today, the issue of providing the population with high-quality drinking water in Kazakhstan shows a serious situation. Thus, water supply in Kazakhstan is 77%, water from centralized sources – 16%, water from open reservoirs and ditches - 3% of the population, imported water-4%. In the West Kazakhstan region, low water supply is 53%, in the Mangistau region, more than 20% of the population is supplied with imported water, the quality of which is not guaranteed. At the same time, the scientific study of the mechanism of providing drinking water is an urgent problem.
