Academic mobility at Sukmen Women's University
I, Yerkebulanova Aitalyn, in the spring from March 1, 2023 to June 30, 2023, was studying abroad under the academic mobility program in the Republic of Korea, in the city of Seoul. I studied at Sukmen Women's University. To briefly tell about the university, Sukmen Women's University was founded in 1906 as the first higher education institution where women could study. The name of the educational institution consists of two hieroglyphs – sook ("bright") and mung ("elegant"). At the beginning of its existence, it was a girls' school, which gradually expanded to a college and in 1955 received the status of a university. The experience of studying in South Korea for an exchange turned out to be one of the most amazing and inspiring periods in my life. The time spent in this country enriched me both personally and academically, and left unforgettable impressions. The first thing that caught my eye was the high level of education in South Korea. Educational institutions of the country are famous for their quality of education, and the level of academic training here is really high. I had a unique opportunity to study subjects in my area of specialization, and I was fully involved in the learning process. The teachers were highly qualified and always ready to help students. The teaching methods were interesting and innovative, which made the study exciting.Studying in South Korea also gave me a unique opportunity to get acquainted with various cultural and social aspects of this amazing country. South Korea is rich in traditions, art and history, and I was able to immerse myself in this world by exploring museums, visiting historical sites and participating in cultural events. Meeting with local students and communicating with them allowed me to better understand their lifestyle and values. The experience of studying in South Korea also greatly influenced my personal growth. Living in a foreign country, where the language and culture are different from my own, required adaptation and development of my intercultural skills. I faced challenges that helped me become more independent, tolerant and open to new ideas. This experience left a deep mark on my character and prepared me for a more successful future. In conclusion, the exchange study experience in South Korea was unique and unforgettable. I received a high-level education, immersed myself in a rich cultural environment, and, most importantly, developed myself as a person. This experience has given me valuable knowledge and skills that I will certainly use in the future. For all these opportunities, I want to thank Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the Department of the Far East, my teachers and professors.
