13TH EDITION OF THE UNESCO YOUTH FORUM

14 november, 2023

On November 14-15, 2023, UNESCO Headquarters in Paris is hosting the 13th UNESCO Youth Forum, where our Kazakhstan and the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University are represented by senior lecturer, PhD of the UNESCO chair for Sustainable Development Tanabekova Gulzhanat.

The purpose of the UNESCO Youth Forum is to focus on the social consequences of climate change and the need to achieve a fair transition to climate change.

The UNESCO Youth Forum, organized by the Social Sciences and Humanities Sector, provides young people with the opportunity to participate in discussions and debates, as well as share their recommendations and solutions with Member States during the UNESCO General Conference. This year's theme was chosen at a critical moment. In recent years, it has become clear to young people that climate change threatens their future. Along with environmental damage, the social consequences of climate change must be at the center of discussions if we want to achieve equitable climate change. Young people are key participants in the innovation needed to achieve equitable climate change, and are extremely motivated to do so. However, they often lack the resources and space to translate their ideas into effective actions and fully realize their potential. This forum will give young initiators of change the opportunity to be heard by those who form policy. Throughout the forum, they will be able to gather together with like-minded young people to develop solutions to eliminate the social consequences of climate change.

The international forum is attended by young people from such countries as: Australia, Ireland, Morocco, Korea, France, Malaysia, etc.
