Employees of al-Farabi Kazakh National University were awarded certificates of ACADEMIC LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE Executive University Leadership Program

On December 1-2, Nazarbayev University hosted the final module of the Executive University Leadership Program, a professional development program for heads of state universities in Kazakhstan, prepared by the Higher School of Education of Nazarbayev University on the initiative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Science.

According to the results of the final module, the dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science Meirbayev Bekzhan Berikbayevich also received a certificate of completion from the Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek.

Deputy Prime Minister Tamara Duissenova delivered a welcoming speech to the participants of the program, consisting of heads of 28 universities of Kazakhstan. She noted the importance of implementing the task of improving the quality of education set by the Head of State.

"A lot of work is being done in the social and infrastructural areas. At the same time, the task of improving the quality of education remains paramount. We have prepared a draft national report. Its purpose is that we must move from the paradigm of organizing learning to the paradigm of forming the formation of personality. A holistic approach will help to create continuity and continuity of learning. It is important that the rectors and vice-rectors who have improved their competencies under this program now transfer their knowledge to middle management," the Deputy Prime Minister addressed the participants of the program.

The completion of the Executive University Leadership Program gave the heads of 28 state universities in Kazakhstan, including rectors, vice-rectors, deans and directors of departments, the knowledge, innovative technologies and practical tools necessary for effective management of universities in a dynamic and increasingly complex environment. Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education Yeshenkulov Talgat thanked Nazarbayev University for the organization and noted the importance of the practical component of the course program.

"The training of leaders in the field of higher education is one of the issues under the control of the Ministry. The colleagues of Nazarbayev University supported our proposal and prepared a high-quality course consisting of 9 modules. The program includes such practical areas as leadership development, decision-making, research, comparison and application of foreign experience," the Vice Minister noted.

The program, which started in April 2023, included 9 interactive modules. Each meeting of the heads was devoted to different processes of transformation at the university, such as: value orientations of universities, leadership, revision of the university structure, solving student issues and ensuring the quality of academic programs. During the course, rectors and vice-rectors listened to lectures by national and international experts in the field of higher education, representatives of ministries, deputies of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, worked in groups, solved practical problems and shared experiences and cases about the work done at universities.

During the final module, for 2 days, participants defended their group projects, answering questions about what technical, pedagogical, and national universities of the future should be. At the same time, the draft National report "Quality education accessible to everyone" was discussed.

Following the results of the final module, on December 2, 81 heads received a certificate of completion of the course from the hands of the Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek. The Minister thanked everyone for their active participation and expressed the hope that the conclusions and ideas obtained as a result will be applied in practice.

It should be noted that this course for university leaders was held within the framework of the Academic Leadership Program project and al-Farabi Kazakh National University became a partner of the Executive University Leadership Program. The work of Module 3 "Data-driven decision making" took place on the basis of our university.
