Round table on the topic: "International legal and national aspects of the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities"

On December 5, 2023, the Department of International Law organized an interuniversity round table on the topic: "International legal and national aspects of the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities", dedicated to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The purpose of the SDG 16 "Peace, justice and effective institutions" event is to discuss issues to promote, protect and ensure the full and equal enjoyment of all human rights and fundamental freedoms by all persons with disabilities.

Students, undergraduates, doctoral students, teachers and representatives of public organizations took part in the discussion of topical issues of the round table.

The moderator of the round table was PhD Baimagambetova Z.M.

During the round table, the most important issues on the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities were discussed: the invited guest, Fatkulin I.R., deputy chairman of the public association "Asian Society for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities" shared his experience in the field of work on the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities, answered in detail the questions of the participants.

A.M. Adibaev, PhD student at KazNU, senior lecturer at Kazakh Ablai khan University of International Relations and World Languages made a presentation of the main results of the dissertation research on the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities.

During the work of the round table, a discussion was held, where students of Kazakh Ablai khan University of International Relations and World Languages and undergraduates of al-Farabi Kazakh National University touched upon the problems of protecting the rights of persons with disabilities in the field of providing an accessible environment, healthcare, inclusive education and social services.

As a result of the round table, joint recommendations were adopted based on the international experience of European states. We thank all the participants of the round table for their informative speeches and active work in the field of protecting the rights of persons with disabilities!
