On December 8, 2023, A. Baitursynuly Department of Kazakh Linguistics held the international scientific and theoretical conference: "W.Thomsen and Modern Turkology" in Hall 409 hall at Al-Farabi Library. The conference was held in online and offline formats and was devoted to the 181st anniversary of the birth of Danish linguist, historian, Professor Wilhelm Thomsen and the 130th anniversary of the first study of ancient Turkic writing.
The following problems were touched upon at the conference:
• The legacy of W. Thomsen and the Turkic paradigm;
• Monuments of Orkhon-Yenisei: research and new scientific approaches;
• Modern Turkic studies;
• Ancient Turkic and modern Turkic languages: semantics of monosyllabic roots.
