International Students at KazNU Discover Kazakh Art

On November 19, 2023, international first-year students majoring in General Medicine at Al-Farabi KazNU visited the Kasteyev Kazakh State Museum of Fine Arts. The visit was organized by the lecturer Farida Mukazhova and  Abdizhappar A. A. The students have visited the museum for the first time to  know much better  about  authentic Kazakh art:  the traditional applied arts of nomads  to the contemporary art of modern-day Kazakhstan. At the beginning of the visit the lecturer Farida Mukazhova delivered   a short  lecture  on the topic of Kazakh art history for the students. Then  the students spent a few hours exploring the various sections of the museum: traditional applied arts, works by the famous Kazakh artist Abylkhan Kasteyev, Kazakh art of the 20th century, contemporary Kazakh art. The  students showed a great interest in  the exposition of traditional Kazakh art — applied arts including hand made tapestries, home decorations, and jewelry. The paintings by Abylkhan Kasteyev also caught their attention.

            This museum visit was  within the framework of  the Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education and by the request of  the international first-year students who show a great interest in   Kazakh art.
