Scientists of KazNU won grants of "Bolashak" program

Grants for scientific internship "500 scientists" in the framework of the program "Bolashak" won scientists of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

Zhazira Zhunusbaeva, Head of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Candidate of Biological Sciences, was included in the honorable list of grant holders. The internship will take place at the Gustave Rosy Institute in Paris. During the internship under the guidance of Prof. Murat Kalievich Saparbaev, she will study the mechanisms of inheritance of mitochondrial DNA strands and patterns of somatic mutations in the genome.

Araylym Esenbekova, a senior lecturer at the Department of Biophysics, Biomedicine and Neuroscience of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, also won the grant. The internship takes place in one of the leading laboratories in the field of molecular biology and intercellular communication, based at the Center for Biomedical Research of the Institute of Biotechnology of the University of Granada (Spain). The young scientist, in collaboration with researchers from Spain, studies the basis of metabolic diseases at the molecular and biochemical levels. 

Sholpan Nazarkulova, PhD, senior lecturer of the Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, will go to Milan (Italy) for training. Host organization - SCITEC (Istituto di Scienze e Tecnologie Chimiche) Giulio Natta, CNR (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche). The topic of the research internship is "Investigation of efficient multifunctional inorganic solid systems for catalytic disinfection of wastewater from heavy metals".

Marat Amangeldin, Master of Engineering and Technology, Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, won a grant for scientific internship under the Bolashak program at Flinders University (Australia). He will conduct research on the topic "Application of microalgae to improve drought resistance of wheat plants through antioxidant system".
